Andrey Rublev explains what Novak Djokovic needs.

World No. 8 Andrey Rublev says he understands the difficulties Novak Djokovic has faced this season, but hopes the Serb will overcome all challenges and return to his old level.

After being denied participation in the Australian Open, Djokovic began his season in Dubai in late February. Djokovic was then denied entry to the United States for Indian Wells and Miami, but was allowed to start the clay court season in Monte Carlo.

“No, it has nothing to do with the feel of the ball or the physicality at all. It’s more psychological. He was under pressure, he didn’t know if he was going to be able to play or not. Then the Covid rules were abruptly abolished and he understood that he would have the opportunity to play the season,” Rublev told Championat, quoted by Sportskeeda.

Rublev: Djokovic needs some strong wins

“He couldn’t compete before and here he is in Monte Carlo as number 1, so the expectations are high. But he hasn’t played, he has no rhythm, he loses quickly.”

I’m sure he’s training hard, it’s perfect to get his confidence back for a match. He has to play some matches, win against good players, and then everything will go fast.
better for him.” On Sunday, Rublev beat Djokovic 6-2 6-7(4) 6-0 in the Belgrade final.

Djokovic won a tight second set to force a decider, but Rublev bounced back in impressive fashion, breaking the Serb three times in the third set to escape with a three-set win and secure his third title of the year.

“It depends on the context. If it’s just a memory that it was a great week, then yes. There are moments that stuck in my head. But to think or remember, to go over in your head what happened to win the final against Novak, there are no words to describe it,” added Rublev.
