Heir to the prestigious golf championships that were played in the Basque Country between the 60s and 80s with the presence of some of the biggest names in golf (Aaron, Baker-Finch, Ballesteros, Faldo, Garaïalde, Langer and many others) , the Arkea Omnium International Senior is open to professionals and amateurs (Index < 5.4) over 50 years of age.
The Arkea Omnium International Senior will be played in doubles over two rounds: 18 holes at Greensome, 18 holes at Four-Ball. The teams will be composed of two professionals, two amateurs or one professional and one amateur. The 2022 edition is sponsored by Jean Garaïalde.
The accumulated prize of €25,000 will be distributed among the first fifteen teams, professionals and amateurs. The Arkea Omnium International Senior will be one of the first tournaments in France to offer open prize money to fans (according to R&A rules).
Jean Van de Velde will team up with Laurent Lassalle, while Jean-François Rémesy will team up with Jean-Pierre Sallat. Patrick Tallent (US Senior Amateur Champion and British Senior Amateur Champion) will compete in the event with Jon Krinn. English, Swiss, Spanish and French professional and amateur teams have announced their participation.
The Arkea Omnium International Senior will end with a feet-in-the-sand awards ceremony at Carlos Beach in Lafitenia (Saint-Jean-de-Luz).
