Billie Jean King has strong words for Serena and Venus Williams.

Tennis legend and WTA founder Billie Jean King spoke about meeting Serena and Venus Williams on the 34th anniversary of when they first met the greatest sister duo in tennis history.

In 1988, Billie Jean King met the Williams sisters, who would become the greatest of all time. King says that she was impressed with the Williams sisters the first time she met them.

34 years later, King says the Williams sisters are still as impressive as ever.

“34 years ago today, April 30, 1988, I had the honor of meeting @Venuseswilliams and @serenawilliams at a Domino’s Pizza @WorldTeamTennis clinic in Long Beach.

They were just as impressive then as they are now. Photo: Carol Newsom, taken during our second meeting, in 1992, with Rosie Casals,” King tweeted.

Serena Williams could play at Wimbledon

The Williams sisters have no appearances in 2022. Serena Williams has not played since Wimbledon last year, where she was forced to leave her first-round match with a hamstring problem.

On the other hand, Venus Williams has not played since the end of August. Venus Williams earned a wild card to the Australian Open, but she decided to skip the event.

Serena Williams indicated in a recent Instagram video that she plans to return to Wimbledon. Last month, Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena Williams’ longtime trainer, accepted Simona Halep’s offer to become her new full-time trainer.

After announcing his partnership with Halep, Mouratoglou revealed that he had a conversation with Serena Williams. According to Mouratoglou, Serena Williams gave him permission to work with Halep.

Some believe that the fact that Serena Williams has given Mouratoglou permission to work with Halep means that the 23rd Grand Slam champion has no plans to return to tennis. Serena Williams played some tennis in 2021 before finishing her season.

In January 2021, Serena Williams reached the semifinal of a WTA tournament in Melbourne. At the Australian Open, she reached the semifinal before losing to eventual champion Naomi Osaka.
