Difficult end of the course for Brooke M. Henderson

Playing her worst round of the week on Sunday, Canadian Brooke M. Henderson dropped out of competition at the Meijer Classic, an LPGA tournament played in Michigan.

The Ontarian had three birdies, but had as many bogeys. He had to resign himself to handing over a 72(N) card. This took her overall to 273 (-15) and dropped her six places in the standings. The 24-year-old athlete was in third place after 54 holes.

Henderson placed ninth with Taiwan’s Hsu Wei-Ling.

American Jennifer Kupcho won the tournament. She had to go into extra time with her compatriot Nelly Korda and Ireland’s Leona Maguire. The three women were neck-and-neck at 270 (-18) after four regulation rounds.

Kupcho and Maguire knocked Korda down after the first hole of overtime with the former taking the win the next.

For her part, Quebec’s Maude-Aimée Leblanc concluded her work week with a performance of 70 (-2). She impressed with a par five eagle from the eighth pennant. The 33-year-old golfer also had two birdies and two bogeys.

Leblanc hit a total of 280(-8) shots in his four rounds. He shares 40th place with eight opponents.

Canada’s Alena Sharp finished 12 strokes behind the winner, giving her 56th place in the standings. On Sunday she gave a card of 71 (-1) and shares her final classification with six rivals.
