Montauban Ladies Open: women’s golf makes the city shine

Yesterday the Pro Am of the Montauban Ladies Open (MLO) was inaugurated, which precedes the individual golf tournament that takes place from June 10 to 12 at the Estang golf course.

For this third edition, 2,000 visitors are expected at the Montalban site. This year’s particularity, the prizes went from €40,000 to €42,500, in an effort to progress and reward the winner even more consistently. The aid made available to the players is not only financial or intended for the winner. Indeed, players are particularly assisted in transportation or even catering. The Estang golf course has been set up for the occasion, with various dining and rest areas.

“The tournament makes Montauban shine, from a golf point of view, but also from a European point of view,” explains Patrick Verel, promoter of the event. The MLO is, in fact, part of the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS). Registered in the official calendar, the tournament is automatically guaranteed to receive a certain number of professional players. This year the five continents are represented, with 104 international participants from thirty countries.

“I wanted an international women’s sporting event,” says Patrick Verel of the origins of the MLO. With Bruno Rebeuh and his 15 years of experience in golf, they thus founded this tournament in 2018. This event, in addition to making the city known, also makes Montalbán’s economy work, between restaurants, accommodation and player transportation.

The Pro Am that takes place before the individual competition allows to include the MLO partners as much as possible. Team tournament, each group represents a company, supported by a professional player and three amateurs.

The official competition takes place from June 10 to 12 and consists of an individual tournament played over three rounds.

Admission is free.
