Make no mistake about it, Karima Mohamed doesn’t hang up her camera. The adoptive Gardoise simply wants to turn the page in her artistic history after more than fifteen years of photographing the greatest flamenco dancers.
Olga Pericet, Fuensanta La Moneta, Rocío Molina… These great artists lit up the stage of the flamenco party orchestrated by the Théâtre de Nîmes. And for 15 years, Karima Mohamed watched them through her lens and with a click she captured her expression, her passion, her energy. ” It was thanks to “La Moneta” that I was able to organize my first photography exhibition in 2006. And that gave me the audacity and courage to continue as Karima M. But beyond that, this artist allowed me to receive the codes of flamenco, a true artistic revelation for me.“recalls the 50-year-old photographer. Year after year, the adopted Gardoise has amassed an excellent collection of photographs taken, ” thanks to the hospitality of the Théâtre de Nîmes“, during the Flamenco Festival.
This long-running work is now the subject of an exhibition entitled flamenco flame woman. The large-format photos were hung along the walls of the Nîmes Campagne golf club restaurant , the White House directed by Sébastien Bourgoin. “Too often we think this place is reserved for golfers, but it’s not open to everyone. For me it is much more than a showroom, it is a place where I like to come to recharge batteries, bathed in light and surrounded by vegetation.
“, confided Karima M during the inauguration organized in a select committee last Monday. Among the guests, Thierry Penchinat, president of the Campagne golf club association. “We are very happy and flattered to receive Karima’s exhibition, it is a great event for this golf course that belongs to no one but the nimes. For 50 years, it has been his only vocation.

This exhibition will be open until February 15. Then the loop will be closed for the photographer who ends his work on the flamenco festival. He is currently working on a portrait project in the priority neighborhoods of Nîmes, in collaboration with the Gard department. The Occitania region, represented on Monday by Henry Brin, should also entrust him with the work on the Camargue. Another great year of creations to come for Karima M.
