There is no greater competitor in the sport than Rafael Nadal

Australian tennis legend Mark Knowles has called Rafael Nadal “the greatest competitor in the history of the sport” because he cannot remember a single moment or match in which Nadal has not given his best.

Knowles is a great champion, having won four Grand Slam doubles titles in his career. Additionally, Knowles was once ranked No. 1 in the ATP doubles rankings.

“I mean, have you ever seen a better competitor in any other sport? Knowles told the Tennis Channel’s Inside-In podcast, according to Sportskeeda. Respect all athletes, I’m a sports fan, Jordan, Wood, Gretzky, but there is no better competitor in my eyes than Rafael Nadal.

And the reason I say that is if you look at tennis, we’ve all played matches, whether it’s 40-0, 4-0, where the mindset is ‘I’m not going to give 100% but it’s never their case.'”

Knowles: Nothing but admiration for Nadal

Nadal skipped almost the entire second half of the 2021 season due to a foot problem. Nadal made his comeback at the start of this season in January and it was impressive when the Spaniard won the Melbourne Summer Set and then a 21st Grand Slam at the Australian Open.

“I’ve been in the tennis business for a long time,” Knowles added. “I have played, watched and commented on Rafael Nadal. I have never seen him not give one hundred percent on one point, ever!

If anyone saw it send me a video because I missed it. So if we look at his career, we understand how amazing he is.”
