Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek reveals that one of the reasons she admires Rafael Nadal so much is that fame and popularity have never changed him.
Nadal is one of the best players in the history of tennis, but other players often describe him as a humble and very kind man. Swiatek, 20, grew up idolizing Nadal, and once he became a tennis player, he realized that his idol was a great person.
“In the beginning, I mainly looked at my older sister, Agatha. I slipped into tennis lessons. I started playing for my father and for her. When I grew up a bit, Rafael Nadal became my great reference.
I admire his work ethic and how success hasn’t changed him, he’s still a very nice and humble guy,” Swiatek told Mujerhoy quoted by Sportskeeda.
Swiatek praises Paula Badosa
When asked about his relationship with Badosa and Garbine Muguruza, Swiatek revealed that he appreciates them and praised Badosa for his promotion.
In late 2021, Badosa won the biggest title of his career at Indian Wells. Shortly after, Badosa broke into the top 10 for the first time in his career.
“I like them a lot and I have a good time when I train with them. I know Paula a little better than Garbine, because we agree more. They are both very talented, aggressive players with a very strong mentality,” said Swiatek.
“What Paula has achieved since last year is unbelievable: she got into the top 10, she won in Indian Wells with a very attacking style, taking the initiative. The same thing happens to Garbine who was sensational in the WTA final in Mexico, with the public that cheered him on, and who totally fulfilled his promises.
I’m sure the upcoming matchups between these two players will be very exciting.” Meanwhile, Swiatek is not playing in Madrid. Swiatek traveled to Madrid, but withdrew from the tournament due to a shoulder problem. He is expected to return to action . in Rome.
